太仓市沙溪第一中学坐落于江南历史文化名镇——沙溪，是一所公办普通农村初级中学。学校由原沙溪第二中学、直塘中学、归庄中学三校撤并组建而成，2009年9月新校建成并正式投入使用。校园建筑设计精美，现代化气息浓郁，教学、活动等功能区域布局合理，既保证了相对独立性，又可通过连廊使师生能够在最短时间内方便到达指定场所。 学校现有36个教学班级，在校学生总数1500人，其中60%的学生来自于全国各地。学校以“志强 智达”为校训，告诫师生确立坚韧不拔、矢志不喻的意志品质方能成就未来；提出了“平等共进 崇德自律”的办学理念，以“做一个有教养的学生、做一个有学养的教师、做一个有涵养的行政”为具体的追求目标，把最普通的当地农村中学生和新太仓人有效融合在一起，努力营造温馨、适学的环境，诠释着普通农村初中对于教育的理解和孜孜的追求。 学校在规范课程开设的同时，重视学生兴趣和特长培养，积极倡导各类社团活动的开展。机器人、无人机、电子百拼、创意电子、桥牌等等20多个社团可谓精彩纷呈，大大丰富了校园文化生活，尤其是学校的中学生桥牌社团不仅参与人数多，而且经过多年的努力已形成了一定的品牌，以桥牌为载体很好地培养了学生的思维、合作、竞争等品质，在全省、全国比赛中也屡屡获奖，向高一级学校输送的桥牌特长生倍受瞩目。 Taicang Shaxi No.1 Secondary School locates in the south of the famous historical and cultural town, Shaxi. It’s an ordinary rural secondary school. It is made up of the former schools of Shaxi No2. Secondary School, Zhitang Secondary School and Guizhang Secondary School. In Septmber, 2009, the new school was completely built and formally put into use. The architectural design of the teaching buildings is exquisite, with rich modern atmosphere. The layout of different function areas of teaching and activities is reasonable. It guarantees the relative independence. Moreover, through the corridors the teachers and students can conveniently reach the designated places in the shortest time. The school has36classes and 1500 students, of which 60% come from all parts of the country. With “High Ambition & Intelligence” as the motto, the school warns the teachers and students that the quality of perseverance and unswerving ambition is the only way to future accomplishment; the school proposes the principle of “Equality and Joint Advancement, Morality Advocation and Self-discipline”, sets “being a cultivated student, a cultured teacher, and an urbane administrator” as the specific objective, and effectively fuses the most ordinary local rural middle students with the new Taicang people, in a bid to create a comfortable and optimal learning environment, interpreting the understanding and pursuit of education by ordinary rural junior middle school. Beside the prescriptive courses, our school pays much attention to the development of the students’ interests and hobbies and actively organizes all kinds of club activities, like photography, electronic technician、Wushu、network defence and so on. There are twenty club activities in total, which makes students’ life in our school rich and colourful, especially the Bridge Club in our school has become quite famous and popular with many years’ efforts. There are more and more students taking part in the Bridge Club, and they get awards many times in Jiangsu province and even in the whole country. The development of the Bridge Club gives our school a good opportunity to develop the students’ abilities of thinking, cooperation and competition and other good qualities.
